The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is seeking applications for its “Professional Development Award: Agriculture and Food Security”.
The Professional Development Award (PDA) recipient (one position available) will undertake a 12-month paid program of research focusing on the development and implementation of cross-project learning on scaling up agriculture and nutrition solutions.
The general objective of this PDA will be to work with IDRC’s Agriculture and Food Security (AFS) team to carry out and complete synthesis research that will consolidate the Canadian International Food Security Research Fund (CIFSRF) lessons on scaling up.
Award Information
The salary for this position ranges from CA$ 52,387 to CA$ 55,006, as well as travel expenses up to CA$ 15,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada or be a citizen of a developing country with a work permit in Canada valid until September 30, 2018;
- Be pursuing doctoral studies at a Canadian university or having completed a doctoral program at a recognized university in the last five years;
- Have a demonstrated specialization in agriculture and food security;
- Must have a strong track record of academic writing and demonstrated ability to write and work collaboratively to communicate research results.
- Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- General interest in research on food security issues in developing countries;
- Specific interest in processes of innovation in smallholder farming systems;
- Specific interest in the institutional economics of multi-partner arrangements.
- Language requirements:
- Applicants must be fluent in English;
- Proficiency in French is an asset.
