Deadline: 10 October 2017
Australian Embassy in the Philippines has announced a call for proposals for Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2017 which is a flexible small grants scheme funded by the Australian Government and administered by the Australian Embassy in the Philippines.
Under the program, grants are provided to worthwhile projects, which can demonstrate direct benefits to local communities.
Funding Information
Grants will be provided up to a maximum of PhP1 million per approved project with 6-12 months implementation period.
Activities
For 2017-2018, DAP will support activities that address the needs of marginalized sectors:
- Disadvantaged children
- Marginalized women and young girls
- Indigenous peoples
- Persons with disability
- Other marginalized groups such as the youth, the LGBT community, poor farmers and fisher folks, remote rural communities and the urban poor.
Priorities
- DAP will prioritize the following initiatives for assistance:
- child protection
- promotion and protection of the rights of women and young girls
- sustainable livelihoods and income generation, especially promoting women’s economic empowerment
- community education/learning centers
- small water systems and sanitation facilities, and
- environmental projects (with health and income-generating outcomes).
- DAP will strongly support projects that address cross-sectoral needs and those that meet multi-sectoral objectives.
- Consideration will be given to proposals where:
- the aim is development focused and benefits the local community. Priority is given to innovative and creative projects that might act as catalyst for further development in the community;
- the project directly meets specific needs of disadvantaged and marginalised groups;
- the project will have tangible results by the end of the implementation period;
- there is a commitment on the part of the local community to implement the activities and sustain them;
- the resources of the proponent and the community either in the form of labour, technical support, administrative cost, materials, existing assets or cash are included as counterpart contributions. There should be evidence of capacity to sustain recurrent costs associated with the project;
- appropriate institutional support arrangements are in place through the proponent organisation, local government and/or the local community. Projects should be orientated towards developing the capacity of the community;
- the proponent can demonstrate that it can provide accurate project reports in a timely manner; and,
