The Noel Buxton Trust is pleased to announce Africa Grants Programme.
The Noel Buxton Trust have funded work in African countries for many years. They fund work in six African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Sudan and South Sudan. As a small charity, they want to focus their limited funds on projects that develop sustainable livelihoods in community settings. They want to fund work that is strongly rooted in the community and informed by the knowledge and experience of the people who will benefit. They favour organisations that have a strong track record in delivering projects.
Aims
- They favour projects that:
- They welcome applications that enable successful practical solutions to be replicated or that aim to bring about relevant policy change through effective advocacy.
Funding Information
- They offer grants of £5,000 – £10,000 per year. This can include a reasonable element (8-10%) towards administration costs.
- They hope to fund for 3-5 years. Each annual instalment will be dependent on meeting annual reporting requirements.
Geographical Focus
- They fund work in six African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Sudan and South Sudan.
Eligibility Criteria
- They strongly favour direct applications from registered community-based organisations or NGOs in Africa.
- They also welcome applications from diaspora-led organisations registered in the UK.
- They offer grants to smaller, grass-roots organisations and do not generally respond to applications from large and well-supported charities.
