The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Kolkata (PAS Kolkata) is seeking proposals for a project entitled “Social Action Lab” in order to build a network of committed and passionate change makers in East India, a group of promising young men and women leaders from previous PAS Kolkata programs will be selected through a competitive process to join alumni of USG exchange programs for a leadership workshop to equip them with skills to enact change.
The objective of this program is to implement a week-long workshop and follow-on action projects within East India for a select number of participant groups, each of which will be led by an USG program alumna/alumnus.
Program Goals
The goals of this funding opportunity are to:
- Promote the empowerment of women by providing access to leadership workshops and mentoring networks.
- Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchange of information, experiences and expertise.
- Sustain and strengthen networks created through PAS Kolkata-sponsored programs by engaging alumni in mentorship roles.
Award Information
- Minimum (“Floor”) Award Amount: $25,000
- Maximum (“Ceiling”) Award Amount: $29,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations. Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
- Cost sharing is not required for this funding opportunity.
- Pre-award costs are not an allowable expense for this funding opportunity.
- This award does not allow for construction activities or costs.
- U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata grants/cooperative agreements cannot be used to fund religious or partisan political activity; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization, or illegal activities.
