The United States Agency for International Development in Mexico (USAID/Mexico) is seeking applications from eligible Mexican non and for-profit organizations to participate in USAID/Mexico’s Strategic Alliances for Mexico (SAM) Annual Program Statement.
The purpose of this solicitation as authorized in accordance with the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, is to increase the sustainability and impact of USAID/Mexico’s development investments in Mexico through private sector engagement and related alliances in the following areas:
- Crime and Violence,
- Rule of Law,
- Human Rights,
- Integrity and Transparency,
- Sustainable Landscapes.
Funding Information
Application budgets are limited to $20,000,000 direct costs and must reflect the actual needs of the proposed project.
Eligibility Criteria
- USAID/Mexico is targeting both potential Resource Partners and Implementing Partners for SAM.
- Resource Partners can be either U.S. or non-U.S. (with a focus on Mexican) private sector businesses, foundations, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, investors, philanthropists and others who can identify and suggest ways to use their financial or other resources to collaborate with USAID/Mexico.
- Implementing Partners are Mexican non-governmental or private sector entities (for-and non-profit) that can engage and work with Resource Partners. Implementing Partners may provide the 1:1 leverage themselves (which cannot include USG funding from other sources) or they must secure funding from a Resource Partner for the projects they are proposing to implement.
- To be eligible, all Implementing Partners must be legally registered entities under applicable Mexican law and meet the following criteria:
- They are organized under the laws of Mexico
- They are not a governmental entity
- The principal place of business is in Mexico
- They are majority-owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Mexico or they are managed by a governing body, the majority of whose members are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Mexico, and
- They are not controlled by a foreign entity or by an individual or individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Mexico
