The Guardian Foundation is currently seeking applications for its Scott Trust Bursary Scheme, offering a number of bursaries each year for aspiring journalists to study for a postgraduate qualification in newspaper, web or broadcast journalism.
The primary aim of these bursary awards is to assist students who face financial difficulty in attaining the qualifications needed to pursue a career in media.
Benefits
A bursary pays for tuition fees and provides a subsistence allowance of £6,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must:
- be a graduate with a 2.1 minimum (or equivalent) and permanent right of residence in the United Kingdom.
- have had substantial paid or unpaid work experience in journalism and built up an impressive portfolio – either news or features-focused, from blogging, writing for student newspapers, video, podcasts, or placements at local newspapers, radio or TV..
- be able to demonstrate their commitment to and aptitude for a career in journalism.
- demonstrate they are unable to pursue a masters’ qualification without financial support.
- This scheme is open to graduates of any undegraduate subject (as long as applicants have graduated by the time the academic courses start in autumn 2018).
