The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the Embassy of the United States of American in Pretoria, South Africa has announced a call for proposals for the 2018 U.S. Government Exchange Alumni Small Grants Competition.
Their long-term goal is to support the alumni of U.S. Government-funded exchange programs in their efforts to strengthen communities by sharing information, expertise and values; mobilizing resources; and enriching relationships between South Africa and United States. They seek proposals that advance one or more of the following:
- Good Governance / Rule of Law
- Human Rights, Civil Society, or NGO Management
- Literacy / Educational Opportunity
- Women’s and Girls’ Empowerment
- Advancing Innovation in Science, Technology, and Health
- Youth Leadership and Development
- Entrepreneurship
Eligible Applicants
- Proposals must be submitted by alumni of a U.S. Government sponsored academic, cultural, or professional exchange program.
- Applicants are encouraged to work in teams of at least two, with both team members being alumni of any U.S. Government Exchange Program (e.g. Fulbright, Mandela Washington Fellowship, IVLP).
- Please feel free to contact the Alumni Office or Public Affairs sections at the embassy or consulates to gather information about other alumni doing similar work.
- Applicants of the project must be 18 years or older to qualify for receipt of grant money.
