ViiV Healthcare is seeking applications for the sixth annual grant cycle of its Positive Action Europe (PAE) programme that aims to support people impacted by HIV in Europe through grants for community and grassroots programmes.
Positive Action Europe looks to fund community-based projects that reach those most affected by HIV, particularly in marginalised or vulnerable populations. The program support initiatives that are innovative, sustainable and produce tangible results for PLHIV.
Funding Information
- A total of EUR 250,000 will be awarded to organisations for the 2019 grants cycle.
- Organisations are asked to restrict the funding request to EUR 25,000 for their projects, which can be up to two years long.
Priority Areas & Project Definitions
- Supporting HIV-related education, knowledge building and treatment literacy – Projects that:
- Engage with communities
- Collaborate with other organisations
- Provide advice, support and literature to communities affected by HIV, including PLHIV, HCPs and stakeholders
- Driving peer support and education – Projects that:
- Encourage active and routine engagement with PLHIV and HIV-stakeholders
- Provide education and support to communities, including PLHIV, HCPs and stakeholders
- Putting PLHIV at the heart of services – Projects that:
- Seek to identify and address the social, environmental and individual obstacles that have an impact on quality of life for PLHIV
- Fighting stigma and discrimination – Projects that:
- Develop and demonstrate innovative and effective methods to address stigma and discrimination, produce outcomes and allow for replication
- Supporting the ageing of PLHIV – Projects that:
- Identify the key issues affecting PLHIV as they get older, including those diagnosed from birth and as children
- Support PLHIV to live the best life as they age
- Engage with the older population of PLHIV to address their key unmet needs
- Promoting testing and earlier diagnosis – Projects that:
- Explore new and innovative ways of promoting HIV testing in communities
- Engage with the community in the importance of earlier diagnosis
- Identify key populations with little access to testing
- Identify key obstacles to HIV testing in communities and engaging with stakeholders to address them
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for grants:
- Be a non-profit or charity, non-governmental organisation (NGO), patient organisation (PO) or community-based organisation (CBO)
- The organisation focuses on HIV/AIDS and directly-related issues (at least 75% of activities and spending)
- The organisation focuses on supporting people living with HIV or helps raise awareness of HIV among the general public
- People living with HIV and/or other inadequately-served populations serve on the Board of the organisation
- The organisation involves people living with HIV and other inadequately-served populations in the development of and implementation of programmes and activities
- The grant requests no more than 25% of the organisation’s overall income
- There are no links to government officials within the organisation
