Roma Education Fund (REF) is seeking proposals for its Advocacy Fellowship program in order to select individuals for the implementation of advocacy fellowship that will be in line with REF’s strategic framework and contribute to achieve the vision of REF in Czech Republic.
Main Priorities
Applicants need to follow the application form, however, the content itself should be designed by the applicant. Fellowship proposals also need to include proposed measures leading to improvements aligned with REF’s strategic goals objectives and advocacy vision. The fellowship proposals should encompass some of the following:
- Build up/strengthen advocacy network in the respective country along top three priorities being identified by the applicant.
- Contribute to place Roma educational challenges on political agendas and gain political and civic support for specific advocacy efforts.
- Contribute to advocacy and policy development in project area and regional knowledge exchange and communication.
- Advocate for changes in policy development through fellowship-related activities, or contribute to existing advocacy efforts in the respective country and area.
- Contribute to building an inclusive education system and its desegregation.
- Integrate gender mainstreaming perspective into the fellowship implementation.
- Work on adding sustainability of the proposed actions and interventions in the proposal.
- Facilitate and foster dialogue between Roma, non-Roma communities, and school stakeholders and strengthen Roma communities to become active advocates for improved educational opportunities.
- Develop specific political and policy narratives that positions Roma on political agendas.
- Set up pathways for facilitation for Roma employment opportunities (depending on the focus of the fellowship).
- Provide publications, interviews, articles etc. in media.
In addition to this, REF will prioritize measurable actions related to the following:
- Issues Roma face in early childhood education and care.
- Institutional school segregation and quality of education.
- Early school leaving of Roma.
Funding Information
- The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals shall not exceed5.000 EUR, for the selected fellow that will be supported within this Call.
- The fellowship proposal can be planned with duration of maximum seven months until the end of March 2020;
Geographical Coverage
This Call for Proposals calls upon expert individuals being active in the field of Roma issues especially in education and employment in the Czech Republic.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to apply for the fellowship, the following eligibility criteria apply:
- Individual expert who can see beyond educational challenges and share vision in the given country.
- Professional capacity and experience: to understand and analyze various educational issues as well as to provide expert level solutions.
- Possessing relevant range of networks for successful advocacy in the respective country.
- Experience in advocacy either/or EU and national level.
- Clear ideas on how to develop educational policies to be more inclusive for Roma.
- Proven relevant experience and indicating ability to fulfill the objectives of the action.
- Core values in line with REF’s values – tenacity, integrity, justice, accountability and inquisitiveness – and REF’s commitment to integration and gender mainstreaming.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English required.
- Preferably having Roma origin.
