The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section in New Delhi is seeking proposals for All-India Alumni Conference with an aim to strengthen the alumni network and contribute to the personal and professional development of participants.
Breakout sessions incorporating speakers and USG visitors could be on themes of strategic importance to the U.S.-India relationship, including, but not limited to, regional connectivity, climate change, entrepreneurship and innovation, gender-based violence, and youth activism.
The conference will also include a session to develop alumni capacity to compete for and manage grants. The speakers will be selected from within and outside the alumni community, from India and the U.S. in collaboration with U.S. Embassy, New Delhi.
It will include a follow-on component that would lead to greater collaboration among the alumni across the country, focused on strengthening regional chapters/associations, forming one to-one mentoring relationships, and administering a small-grants competition for the alumni.
Objectives
- Organize a two-day all-India alumni conference for approximately 150 participants with learning and networking opportunities through parallel sessions on themes of strategic relevance to U.S.-India ties, social/cultural activities, and service-based learning.
- Develop a framework for follow-on action and collaboration, such as the creation and maintenance of a professional mentor-mentee pool.
- Engage alumni in the planning of the conference, selecting themes and speakers in collaboration with U.S. Embassy, New Delhi, finalizing agenda, and preparing for future conferences.
Funding Information
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between $80,000.00 and $95,000.00.
- Grant projects generally should be completed in one year or less.
Grantees Role
- The grantee will work closely with an alumni host committee comprising of 10-15 alumni from throughout India identified by U.S. Embassy, New Delhi in preparation for the conference.
- The grantee will meet regularly virtually and in person with the alumni host committee in the months leading up to the conference.
- In partnership with the alumni host committee, the grantee will develop the project’s agenda and invitation, and work towards ensuring participation of alumni and international and local speakers, as well as manage all logistics related to any events.
- The grantee should include plans for key components of the alumni conference to be broadcast to USG alumni located throughout the region either via DVC or Skype/webcast.
- The implementation strategy, media releases, print and communication material, including invitations, posters and banners, and the overall tenor would be developed by the grantee in collaboration with the alumni host committee and U.S. Embassy, New Delhi , with final approval from U.S. Embassy.
- The project should include a robust pre- and post- event media plan, including traditional and social media, to publicize the conference.
- The grantee will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the conference for approximately 150 participants.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations.
- Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
- Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
- Cost-sharing or Matching is not required for this funding opportunity.
- This award does not allow for construction activities or costs.
- U.S. Embassy New Delhi grants/cooperative agreements cannot be used to fund religious or partisan political activity; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization, or illegal activities.
- Applicants must acquire all required registrations and rights in the United States and India. All intellectual property considerations and rights must be fully met in the United States and India.
