This is a call for proposals opened under the umbrella of Bridge 47 – Building Global Citizenship. Bridge 47 is a project co-created and implemented by 15 European and global civil society organizations.
It mobilises and empowers global civil society to contribute to a transformation towards global justice through Global Citizenship Education.
In the Bridge 47 project they:
- Coordinate a global network, a coalition of organisations and individuals committed to promoting target 4.7. of the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Global Citizenship Education. The Network builds bridges between all types of value-based education and provides a forum to learn from each other and work towards achieving target 4.7. together.
- Advocate to change policies at the national, EU and global level to better recognise the essential role of Global Citizenship Education in achieving Agenda 2030 and global justice.
- Build new partnerships with a broad array of stakeholders (e. g. Academia (educational institutions), private sector, ministries and political bodies, forming broader coalitions of CSOs, etc.) in order to bring the ideals and practices of Global Citizenship Education to new audiences.
- Build the capacity of European and global civil society to use innovative tools and approaches for transformative Global Citizenship Education (GCE).
In the current call for proposals they are looking for new partners and organisations to join their network and in mission to support positive change through Global Citizenship Education and other types of value-based education.
Grant Information
- Grant for a project of up to 7.000 €1 in total eligible costs and an invitation to a two-day design thinking workshop where applicants can showcase and further develop what they think may be the most important educational innovation in their area and place of work.
- A maximum of 24 projects will receive a grant from Bridge 47.
Eligible Project
Project should be innovative based on one or more of the following aspects:
- Innovative and/or experimental regarding format, content, methodology, learning materials, learning spaces etc: Education that creates room for transformative learning might need go beyond the boundaries of what is conventionally perceived and practiced as GCE. If they want to rethink and change the world, they might want to start by re-thinking and changing the way they do GCE. Bridge 47 believes that there are many different ways that GCE can happen.
- Innovative and/or experimental regarding target group or educational actors and partners involved – including but not limited to the media, the private sector etc: In order to bring about the transformation that GCE seeks, GCE ideals and practices must reach great numbers and great diversity of individuals. Partnerships with a broad array of stakeholders can help this to become a reality. This thinking is also in line with Sustainable Development Goal 17 which emphasizes the importance of partnership to support the achievement of the SDGs.
- Innovative and/or experimental regarding the evaluation, reflection and impact assessment of applicants educational activities that have already happened or are ongoing by using the BRIDGE 47 Framework for measuring the activities at a local or national level: As practitioners in the field of education and particularly global citizenship education, Bridge 47 identified the necessity to measure and catch the progress and change made by the efforts of value-based education practitioners. In response, Bridge 47 has developed a framework to capture and measure work that is being undertaken by organisations implementing activities for SDG Target 4.7, which includes the following value-based educations; global citizenship education, education for sustainable development, peace education, gender education and human rights education.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for a grant, applicants must be:
- A Non-profit, non-governmental organisation that is registered to a legal person before 1.9.2017 in one of the following countries (provinces): Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland and Northern Ireland, Latvia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, with a track record of being active in the area of its expertise.
- Directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action, not acting as an intermediary.
Selection Criteria
The project applications will be evaluated according to the following selection criteria:
- Extent of innovative potential impact and reach of the project;
- Relevance of the project in reference to Bridge 47;
- Relevance of the project for the local / national community; and
- Value for money and cost effectiveness.
