Support Foundation for Civil Society is realized in the 2020 period of the Gender Equality Fund with the support of individual and institutional donors in cooperation with the Turkey Mozaik Foundation.
Support Foundation for Civil Society has created the Gender Equality Fund to support the innovative projects, institutional development, campaigning and advocacy efforts of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in this field.
Focus Areas
At least one of the following studies to improve gender equality is expected to focus on the applications to be supported under the Fund:
- Innovative pilot project ideas designed for a systematic change and having the vision of creating a model when implemented;
- Studies to support the institutional activities and / or development of an NGO working in the field;
- Campaign and advocacy oriented activities.
Among the related applications, research-oriented activities can take place as an activity to the extent that it supports the main idea. It is also possible to provide different opportunities, including consultancy and mentoring, for the institutional needs of organizations that are entitled to receive grants in the field of corporate development. In some cases, these opportunities may also be one of the prerequisites for using corporate grants.
Funding Information
- The total amount of the grant to be distributed to NGOs within the scope of the Gender Equality Fund is at least 240.000 TL.
- Applicant NGO can request maximum 80.000 TL from the grant program. Co-financing is possible and there is no restriction on this.
Place and Duration
- Supports should be maximum 12 months.
- Projects to be supported and implementation of the work location must be within the boundaries of Turkey. However, additional activities to be carried out in cooperation with NGOs operating in another country can be added as a budget item.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations that meet the following application criteria and have legal personality can apply for the grant program:
- Established in Turkey associations, foundations, cooperatives and other non-profit;
- Working actively in the field for at least one year;
- With a 2019 income of at least 30,000 TL and a maximum of 1,500,000 TL;
- Organizations that have been working on improving gender equality in the past;
- Professional associations and charities and social assistance and solidarity foundations cannot benefit from the fund. Applicant organizations such as universities, companies, public institutions and local administrations, structures that do not have legal personality, etc. It is possible to cooperate with;
- Only one application will be accepted from each organization. However, it is possible for an organization to be a partner of more than one project;
- Organizations currently receiving institutional support by the Support Foundation for Civil Society cannot apply for a grant scheme with a request for institutional support. There is no obstacle for organizations that have received a grant in the past, or who have applied for another grant program and have been rejected.
Evaluation Criteria
Applications are evaluated within the framework of the following criteria;
- Institutional capacity of the applicant organization: Having sufficient management skills to focus on members of the organization, its connections, employees (if any), volunteers, and expertise in the area of gender equality, and the team that has the first degree of responsibility for the grant, the knowledge, skills, time and experience required by the job;
- Originality: Opinions of the organization’s approach and originality of Turkey in particular;
- NGO’s relationship with the area of the grant scheme: Inclusion of those directly affected by the consequences of gender inequality in the applicant organization, planning and / or implementation of the solution;
- Focusing on the causes: Focusing on the elimination of the main causes of gender inequality;
- Scalable approach: (If the application is a project) To the extent that sufficient resources are mobilized, the current approach, the model unearthed and / or the pilot implementation can be reproduced;
- Social impact: The development of work or organization has a measurable contribution to civil society in general and to gender equality in particular.
Evaluation Process
- Application conditions, priorities, evaluation processes and other information related to the program are announced on the website of the Foundation for Civil Society and social media channels.
- Interested NGOs fill in the application form.
- Applications are first evaluated within the foundation according to their technical suitability. If necessary, interviews can be made with the applicants during this process.
- As a result of the internal evaluation made by the Foundation, the applications that meet the priorities of the program, which are to be discussed in more detail and to express opinions by experts, are evaluated in a meeting that the Evaluation Committee will attend.
- Grant contracts are signed with NGOs that are entitled to support and the grant process begins.
