Forum MNE (Montenegro) in partnership with the Center for Legal Civic Initiatives (Albania), Hope and Homes for Children BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Partners Kosova – Center for Conflict Management (Kosovo ), Center for Common Ground (North Macedonia), and Cultural Center DamaD (Serbia) have launched a call for project proposals: Building Communities’ Resilience to Violent Extremism in the Western Balkans.
Project “Communities First: Creation of Civil Society Hub to Address Issue of Violent Extremism –from Prevention to Reintegration” has been launched with aim to empower civil society organizations (CSOs), including women, youth,and faith-based organizations (FBOs), to be more effective and accountable actors and to improve their capacity to implement projects and dialogue with governments, influencing policy and decision-making processes as it relates to prevention and countering violent extremism(P/CVE) in the region.
Objectives
- Objective of the Call is to support grassroots organisations and local CSOs in the Western Balkans in their efforts to build and increase community resilience to violent extremism though creation of local partnerships and joint community-based P/CVE actions with other relevant actors: authorities, FBOs, cultural institutions, youth associations, media and academia.
- Specific objectives:
- To support grassroots organisations and CSOs in establishing partnershipsbetween CSOs, media, FBOs, public sector, youth associations, and academiaand other relevant stakeholders, at community level to boost local response to preventing and countering violent extremism in the Western Balkans.
- To support grassroots organisations and CSOs in implementing pilot projects to tackle the root causes of violent extremism at the grassroots level.
Funding Information
- The overall indicative amount available under this Call is EUR 120 000 – EUR 20.000 per each country.
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals (CfP) must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- minimum amount: EUR 4,000
- maximum amount: EUR 6,000
Duration
The initial planned duration of the project implementation may not be lower than 1 month nor exceed 6 months, and the activities can be conducted between August 1, 2020 to January 31, 2021.
Location
Projects must take place in one of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for granting, applicants must:
- be legal persons;
- be non-profit making;
- be civil society organizations;
- be nationals of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Serbia;
- be registered in these countries as non-governmental organisations/associations at least 12 months prior to the deadline for submission of project proposals;and,
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action.
- Individuals, political parties, international and foreign organisations, government institutions and religious communities cannot apply in this Call but can take part in the project implementation.
- Organisations whichare lead applicants of Civil Society and Media Programme under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA II) are not eligible as lead applicants under this CfP.
Co-applicants
- The applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s). Partnerships are not mandatory, but are allowed and welcomed.
- Co-applicant(s) must satisfy the eligibility criteria as applicable to the applicant.
