The KLA Foundation has launched the Education Equity Fund to expand access to quality education by delivering academic, social and cultural resources essential to the success of first-generation, limited-income and/or underrepresented students in the communities KLA operates.

The KLA Foundation strategically partners with organizations that know their communities best to create upstream solutions for sustainable change and empower their employees to get involved in causes that are close to their hearts.
Focus Areas
- Advancing Access with a Focus on STEM: Expanding access to education with a focus on STEM by funding technology or programming that removes barriers to underrepresented students.
- Advancing Emotional Wellbeing: Advancing emotional wellbeing by supporting the development of sustained social-emotional and mental health support for underserved and underresourced schools.
- Advancing Systems: Improving systems through influencing change in policies and curriculum and supporting a diverse talent pipeline in the field of education.
Funding Information
- Education Equity Fund grants will be issued in the range of $50,000 – $250,000 per year, for 1, 2 or 3 years.
What they’re looking for?
- They prioritize applicants who:
- Are addressing the root cause of inequity
- Are eliminating policies and practices and perpetuate barriers
- Propose projects designed to improve education systems
- Are able to monitor, assess, and document the impact of the change(s) and the progress being made
- Create or build upon existing partnerships or coalitions
- Are innovative, strategic and future-focused
- Show potential for sustainable, long-term benefits that persist after the grant period ends
- Demonstrate strong potential for replication by additional organizations or institutions
- Have a clear and direct connection to improving equity of education outcomes and experiences
Eligibility Criteria
- Have a direct and significant impact within communities KLA operates
- Be a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) public charity designation by the IRS (or be fiscally sponsored by one) and have an active profile on the Benevity platform
- Have a specific focus on addressing challenges faced by first-generation, limited income, and/or underrepresented students in grades K-12 in the United States and at secondary and post-secondary schools outside the US
- Demonstrate existing relationships with K-12 schools in the United States and at secondary and postsecondary schools outside the US
- Operate in communities where KLA operates
Ineligibility Criteria
- Initiatives that do not directly or significantly have an impact within communities KLA operates
- Individuals
- Special event sponsorship or any other type of fundraising initiative
- Endowments
- General operating support
- Buildings or capital campaigns
- Political campaigns or candidates
- Lobbying activities
- Deficits or debt-retirement
- Student scholarships, student tuition, or student fees
- One-time professional development events. Any professional development projects that are funded must include recurring, sustained training that is clearly tied to practical application and changes in educator and/or administrator practice.
- Organizations that would re-grant funding received from the KLA Foundation, unless to a partner organization that will support the Education Equity Fund-funded services as described in the project budget or unless with express permission from the KLA Foundation.
