The Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi is pleased to announce an open competition to apply for the Media Sustainability Program aimed at supporting the sustainability of media organizations that inform Georgian audiences through a grants program.
The program seeks to support media outlets looking to develop business and media management skills. It also supports outlets looking to build data or technological skills as a means of enhancing media sustainability.
Objectives
- The objective of the program is to provide support to media organizations in enhancing their sustainability by offering grants to address the following priorities:
- Develop or update business models to adapt to the rapidly changing media landscape.
- Implement strategies to better understand key audiences and inform decision-making.
- Improve digital presence.
- Integrate new technologies to improve efficiency.
- Explore opportunities for diverse revenue streams (one example could be offering production services to external clients).
Funding Information
- Total available funding: $158,000 subject to availability of funding.
- Award amounts: Up to $55,000 per grant award.
- Number of awards anticipated: Multiple awards.
Outcomes
- As a result of the program’s support, participating media organizations will implement enhanced media management or business strategies, reinforcing their sustainability.
- Program Outputs:
- Media organizations develop media management, business, or digital innovation plan grounded in data that supports media sustainability.
- Data-driven insights inform strategic decisions, leading to targeted features, product improvements, and content strategies.
- Collaborative efforts diversify funding sources and bolster financial sustainability by providing production services to external businesses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Media organizations. The applicants are required to have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number.
- This program does not require cost sharing, however in-kind contributions will be favorably considered.
