NSW Government is offering grants to support recreational fishing clubs, organisations and community groups to purchase items required to run their own Gone Fishing Day events, such as casting and fishing activities and information sessions, on or around Gone Fishing Day.
This program is funded and administered by Department of Primary Industries.
Funding Information
- Recreational fishing clubs, organisations and community groups are also invited each year to apply for grants of up to $2,000 to purchase items required to run their own Gone Fishing Day events, such as casting and fishing workshops and information sessions, on or around Gone Fishing Day.
Eligible Projects
- Applicants can apply for grants to purchase or hire items such as fishing gear, bait, food and non-alcoholic drinks, participant giveaways, clean-up and tree planting equipment and other equipment required to run a local Gone Fishing Day event and associated activities, such as:
- casting and fishing activities
- fishing information sessions
- fish habitat rehabilitation activities such as replanting and/or weeding creek banks
Eligibility Criteria
- Any organisation can apply, including fishing clubs and organisations related to promoting recreational fishing. To apply for funds all clubs, organisations and community groups must be incorporated in Australia.
- Organisations must be incorporated.
- Only one application for funding will be accepted per organisation per project.
- Applications must be completed in full, including the budget section (with sufficient detail to enable a sound assessment).
- The activities should be scheduled to occur on or within 4 weeks of Gone Fishing Day.
Ineligible
- Individuals or groups of individuals.
- Unincorporated organisations.
- Gone Fishing Day should not be on private land or land with no public access (where relevant). Activities must be as accessible as possible.
- Project activities should not include commercial ventures or materials developed for a primarily commercial purpose.
- Project activities should not include running the business of organisations/clubs.
- Events must not include fishing charters.
- Events must be inclusive to the public and not exclusive to club/organisation members only (where relevant).
- Project management expenses or salaries cannot be included in the project budget.
- Individual items must not exceed $400 in value.
