The Neptune Water Award is the Austrian environmental and innovation award on water-related issues.
It was founded in 1999 to clarify the importance of water as a resource – especially in the areas of life, environment, economy, science, art and society.
The Neptune Water Award 2021 is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT), the Austrian Gas and Water Association (ÖVGW) and the Austrian Water and Waste Management Association (ÖWAV). Partners are Kommunalkredit Public Consulting, City of Vienna – Wiener Wasser, the private brewery Zwettl and VERBUND. The municipality category is supported by the Austrian federal states.

Eligibility Criteria
- The target groups in the categories of the Neptune Water Prize range from companies, associations, clubs, NGOs and communities to schools, other educational institutions and artists to science and research.
- Private individuals are also invited to participate.
- The Vienna category “WasserWIEN” is particularly open to them, as well as the possibility of proposing a community in the Austria-wide category “WasserGEMEINDE”.
