The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has opened a call for Civil Society Organizations for Improving access to justice services and rights for vulnerable detainees, through the provision legal and psychological support services and capacity building of civil society organization.
Objectives
- More specifically, this involves:
- Evaluate and select the best civil society organizations (CSOs) operating in the legal and/or psycho-social assistance for prisoners.
- Identify the best approach for the delivery of integrated legal and psychosocial aid services, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice/General Directorate of Penitentiary Affairs, and grant legal and psycho-social aid services for destitute prisoners in the men’s and women’s prisons of Gitega and of Bururi.
- Strengthening the capacities of selected organizations.
- Provide integrated legal aid and psychological support services to prisoners (es) in the men’s and women’s prisons of Gitega and Bururi.
Sectors
- Promotion of legal assistance and judicial assistance, support, psychological supervision and strengthening the capacities of prison staff in psychological support.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a legally registered civil society organization in accordance with the laws and national regulations (exclusive)
- Have at least 5 years of experience in the field of legal and judicial assistance in Burundi and have the capacity to provide integrated legal and psychological assistance and to deploy in one or more provinces of intervention.
- Demonstrate their ability to implement the proposed activities effectively and efficient until the end of December 2024: staff for the implementation of activities, governance mechanisms, management tools, etc.
- Present a technical note describing the integrated methodological approach of the intervention on both aspects (legal aid and psychological support), with a timetable of consequent activities.
