The HealthTech Supernode Challenge is your chance to work alongside some of the brightest minds in Aotearoa’s healthcare sector and get the support you need to make your dream a reality.
Solutions
The Challenge is looking for technology solutions to real healthcare problems. It is specifically interested in 3 focus areas of Aged Care, Rural Care and an Open Category.
- Aged Care: How can it use technology to ensure that older people can receive the quality of care that enables them to enjoy their lives to the fullest?
- Rural Care: How can it use technology to deliver comprehensive and sustainable health services to rural communities?
- Open Category: It also have an open category which is for technical solutions to healthcare problems across any specialisation. It knows this is a vast remit but don’t want to miss out on any innovation that could benefit from focused support and development.
Prize Information
With a total prize bank valued at over $340,000, there are plenty of reasons to enter the HealthTech Supernode Challenge.
- Cash prizes
- There’s a $40,000 cash prize package to share amongst the winners. There will be one overall winner and two second equals.
- First customers
- If applicable, the winner will receive a market validation contract with Canterbury District Health Board – a leading NZ health innovator.
- If applicable to Aged Care, the winner will also be granted exclusive access to Ryman Healthcare’s innovation team which will provide the opportunity for the startup to pursue real customer discovery, product, and market validation.
- Seed funding
- The applicable winner will receive potential seed funding from WNT Ventures – a Callaghan Innovation enabled tech incubator.
- Focus, profile, & network
- Not only will the pre-accelerator allow you to focus on your innovation, the profile and networks that will support you throughout are priceless.
Eligibility Criteria
They are looking for healthtech innovators full stop.
- You may have an idea or you may have already developed a product.
- You may be a student or researcher at a university.
- You may be a healthcare professional who has spotted a problem that really needs to be solved
- You may be a startup founder or an innovator at a large company and thinking of the Challenge as an opportunity to develop a future spinout.You may be a company or research organisation with a team who have an idea and use the Challenge to commercialise it.
Evaluation Criteria
All applications will be judged according to the following criteria:
- The product or service outlined will provide (or has the potential to provide) an effective solution to real healthcare problems and will improve patient outcomes.
- The application clearly articulates the healthcare problem that is being solved and for whom.
- The application clearly communicates the impact and global potential of the proposed product or service.
- The applicant individual or team is able to develop the capability to execute on the proposed innovation .
- The product or service has a clear point of difference from competing solutions.
