The project of the Government of Switzerland “For an active civil society – ACT” has announced a call for grants to strengthen local communities.
This Call is intended for CSOs and informal groups that will, with the active support and participation of citizens, create initiatives and actions aimed at solving a problem of public interest in their local communities.
Local community is a term that includes a specific area – a street, a block of buildings, housing units, a local community or a municipality as the widest area. Proposals can be submitted exclusively to smaller requests in a given local community with the mobilization and involvement of as many citizens as possible (eg advocating for a children’s playground, removal of smaller illegal dumps, advocating the adoption of a decision at the local community level, conversion and arrangement of common areas , providing legal assistance for the purpose of exercising guaranteed rights in the community, arranging access for persons with disabilities, etc.).
CSOs and informal groups of citizens are invited to submit a project proposal and if selected will become beneficiaries of financial support for the implementation of activities in local communities , but also a specially designed and tailored program of capacity development and skills to actively encourage citizen engagement and articulate their interests. community.
Funding Information
The ACT project plans to support up to 5 organizations through this Call. The amount of individual financial support is up to 350,000.00 dinars .
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications for grants for strengthening local communities can be submitted by CSOs and informal groups of citizens active in key areas of action :
- citizen involvement and mobilization
- monitoring the implementation of laws and policies
- gender equality and related topics
- social inclusion and marginalized groups
- decentralization
- human and civil rights
- environmental protection
- good management.
- CSOs based in Serbia must be registered in accordance with the Law on Associations or the Law on Foundations and Endowments.
- The applicants are CSOs and informal groups of citizens who inherit the values of democracy, human rights, transparency, inclusion, gender equality, non-violence, openness and accessibility.
