Applications are now open for the David Cross Young People’s Fund which has been established by the David Cross Foundation, in partnership with the Community Foundation for NI and the Department for Communities.
The Fund has been established to support young people in Northern Ireland, with a particular focus on entrepreneurship and employability.
Funding Information
- Funding can be used to cover equipment (at up to £5,000), as well as activity, materials, training and staffing costs.
- All applicants will have access to capacity building support through a free accelerator programme. Successful applicants will also receive up to 30 hours of bespoke mentoring support.
What can be supported within the fund themes?
Examples of potential projects that they may be able to support include:
- Training initiatives
- Projects to develop new skills
- Research and development
- The piloting of new technology
- The development of relationships between young people, industry and business
- Apprenticeships
We expect projects to include:
- Creative thinking
- Youth leadership
- Sound monitoring and evaluation systems
- Collaborative approaches and partnership working, where possible
- Opportunities for replication / up scaling
Criteria
- Applications are invited from community and voluntary sector organisations, youth groups, schools and colleges who are working with young people aged 12-25 in Northern Ireland.
- Proposals should be clearly focused on the fund’s objectives and have been developed in conjunction with young people.
- Proposals should take into account the impact of the Covid-19 in how the project will be delivered and how the pandemic has affected young people’s prospects.
- The fund welcomes applications which seek to pilot innovative, creative and technological solutions, particularly where these could be upscaled or replicated.
- The fund welcomes applications which involve cross community collaboration and partnership as a means of meeting the challenges common to all young people.

- Registered charities
- Constituted community organizations
- Companies limited by guarantee with charitable aims
- Community interest companies
- Youth groups
- Schools and colleges, providing the proposal is additional to statutory obligations
- Social enterprises
Applicants are required to provide the following with their application:
- A copy of your governing document, e.g. constitution – this must be signed and dated;
- A copy of your most recent accounts or up to date income and expenditure;
- A copy of a current account bank statement for your organization’s bank account – this must be in the same name as your constitution, dated within the past three months and should not be overdrawn. If the bank statement is overdrawn please provide an explanation as to why the account is overdrawn. The Foundation staff will then consider this explanation in line with our due diligence policies and procedures.
