The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is requesting proposals for the Humanitarian Response for Socio-Emotional Care for Students Displaced by Violence in Receiving Schools in Michoacán and Chihuahua.
The purpose of this call is to form an alliance with an organization that have the ideal experience and trained personnel in social support issues emotional and mental health from a community, emergency approach (first psychological aid) and children’s rights, as well as tools for managing groups and pedagogical strategies, using a playful, participatory and socio-affective, with a gender perspective, intercultural and intersectional. Ideally, the organization has experience in working with educational communities and with work in contexts of displacement and/or violence.
Aim
- Implement socio-emotional support and mental health actions in schools recipients of children and adolescents displaced by violence in Michoacán and Chihuahua, in the municipalities of Coahuayana, Buenavista and Apatzingán; and municipalities of Guadalupe y Calvo, Guachochi and Balleza; with the purpose of training the teachers and other school staff with the basic skills and knowledge for self-care and support for their students experiencing stress, distress, or discomfort emotional, using the principles of psychological first aid.

Key Actions
- The program considers the following key actions:
- Institutional link: the project includes a significant component of institutional articulation with local authorities, so that the partner has the access to schools and be able to carry out activities. UNICEF will support in these efforts.
- Design and implementation of the training strategy
- Implementation of training: Training will begin and Teacher training for self-care, providing teachers with tools so that they can carry out emotional discharges. Then they will work on train them so that they can identify and provide care to students, from a perspective of the rights of girls, boys and adolescents, with a perspective psychosocial, intercultural, gender and intersectional, as well as under the principle of action without harm.
- Awareness workshop with parents and/or other caregivers: For each school center, an open day will be held for parents, mothers or other caregivers, with the purpose of raising their awareness about the importance of mental health in children and adolescents, and strengthen their role as key support for them. This session will be conducted using methodology participatory, socio-affective and problematizing.

Eligibility Criteria
- All organizations that meet the following criteria are eligible for submit your application to this call:
- At least 3 years of experience in implementing health projects mental, emotional health or psychosocial support.
- At least 3 years of experience working in stock strategy promotion and care for children and adolescents, developing spaces and projects that promote the well-being of this population.
- Experience in projects developed in areas will be valued favorably educational.
- Experience working in a context of violence and/or displacement.
- Have staff trained in group management and development playful, participatory and pedagogical strategies, from a rights-based approach humans, psychosocial, gender, intercultural and intersectional perspective.
- Organizations with previous experience in the states of project implementation and with knowledge of the local context.
- Human and financial resources capacity to implement the described project.
- Experience working with UNICEF or other UN agencies will be valued.
