Deadline: 30-Jul-25
The Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment is inviting Expressions of Interest for its 2025–2026 SDG Champions Programme. This national initiative aims to highlight and support organisations that are actively promoting and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their work.
SDG Champions play a vital role as advocates for the SDGs and sustainable development. They serve as leading examples of how organisations and groups can align their operations with global goals. Champions are expected to share their experiences and learnings with wider audiences, encouraging others to follow suit.
As part of their responsibilities, Champions will consistently promote the SDGs and link their activities to these goals. They are required to provide quarterly updates outlining their SDG-related initiatives, including any community, stakeholder, or customer engagement.
Each Champion will also organise at least one SDG-themed or promotional event during their term, preferably during SDG Week. At the end of the programme, participants will take part in a national showcasing event.
The Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment will provide comprehensive support to the selected Champions. This includes hosting an introductory workshop, quarterly meetings, and a final showcase event.
Champions will receive an information pack with programme guidance, reporting templates, and brand assets to aid SDG promotion. In addition, Champions’ activities will be featured on Ireland’s SDG Geohive, and they will receive assistance in using SDG mapping tools to align projects with specific goals.
Eligible applicants must be organisations or groups based in the Republic of Ireland. This includes cross-border and multinational organisations with operations in Ireland.
Selected participants will represent a broad spectrum of Irish society, from the public and private sectors to community, voluntary, youth, and NGO groups—showcasing the nation’s collective commitment to sustainable development.
