The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has launched the call for proposals to communicate for Social and Behavior and Local Governance in SAN in 4 Municipalities of Chiquimula.
The initiative seeks to consolidate community communication and territorial governance processes by strengthening capacities, fostering local ownership, and effectively integrating the Communication for Social and Behavioral Change strategy into municipal plans and policies.

Expected Results
- This intervention directly contributes to the outcomes of the Dry Corridor Joint Program and aligns with the strategic priorities of the Government of Guatemala to strengthen multisectoral coordination and community participation for food and nutrition security, with a particular emphasis on improving the nutritional status of the population. Proposals must demonstrate how they will contribute to achieving the following expected results and outputs, as well as their capacity to measure key indicators:
- Outcome 1: Strengthened functioning and coordination of local institutions and communities for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of food and nutrition security actions from a Communication for Social and Behavior Change approach, within the framework of municipal FSN plans.
- Activity 1: Technical support to CODESANs and COMUSANs to supervise, monitor, and promote the implementation of Municipal Communication for Social and Behavior Change Plans. This activity seeks to strengthen local governance mechanisms in FSN, ensuring that local planning is based on the Communication for Social and Behavior Change Strategy and that these actions are led by existing multisectoral platforms (COMUSANs).
- Outcome 2: Strengthening of platforms and community mechanisms to implement actions aimed at improving nutrition.
- Activity 2 Implementation of CCSyC actions in priority communities, in coordination with the COMUSAN, promoting the participation of women, youth, and indigenous peoples.
- Outcome 1: Strengthened functioning and coordination of local institutions and communities for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of food and nutrition security actions from a Communication for Social and Behavior Change approach, within the framework of municipal FSN plans.
