Deadline: 24-Aug-2025
The Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC) Biannual Community Grants Program offers funding to community organisations, groups, individuals, and local businesses that contribute to the health and wellbeing of the municipality. The program seeks to improve the quality of life for residents, address local needs, and support community-led initiatives that enhance social, cultural, economic, and environmental outcomes.
One stream under the program is the First Peoples Grants. This stream supports projects led by First Peoples that promote culture and self-determination. It aligns with the Victorian Aboriginal and Local Government Strategy 2021–2026, focusing on cultural celebration, reducing discrimination, fostering partnerships, strengthening leadership, promoting economic participation, and improving health outcomes.
The Social Support Grant offers operational funding to small, volunteer-run community groups that create social connections and share community information but have limited fundraising ability.
The Community Projects Grant funds initiatives aligned with MVCC’s MV2040 Strategy. Projects should support wellbeing, especially for target populations, and increase access to services and community participation.
Climate Action Grants are available under two sub-streams: Energy Transition and Urban Greening and Climate Resilience. These grants support efforts to lower emissions, reduce energy costs, and promote community climate advocacy in response to the climate emergency.
Arts and Events Grants assist the local creative sector through community-focused projects and events. These grants help build the capacity of local artists and creatives, encouraging vibrant cultural engagement.
Business Projects Grants support local businesses working on projects that benefit the wider community. These include initiatives that enhance public precincts, increase local patronage, and encourage collaboration between businesses.
In the financial year 2025–26, the total funding pool for all streams is $447,020. First Peoples Grants offer up to $10,000. Social Support Grants provide up to $1,500. Community Projects and Arts and Events Grants each offer up to $10,000. Climate Action Grants include up to $10,000 for Energy Transition and up to $2,000 for Urban Greening and Resilience. Business Projects Grants provide up to $5,000.
Eligibility varies by stream. First Peoples Grants are open to First Peoples who live, work, or connect with Moonee Valley, as well as First People-led organisations or businesses. These may need to apply with an auspice if unincorporated or without an ABN.
Social Support, Community Projects, and Climate Action Grants are open to not-for-profit organisations that are incorporated or supported by an auspice and operate within Moonee Valley.
Arts and Events Grants are available to community groups, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals working with an auspice. Business Projects Grants are for businesses, sole traders with fewer than 50 full-time equivalent staff, trader associations, and social enterprises with an ABN operating in Moonee Valley.
