The European Commission through its Representation in Latvia has launched a call for proposals to select partners for the period 2021-2025 will operate as EUROPE DIRECT.
It works actively and continuously with citizens to ensure a stronger link with the European project. By organizing information and outreach activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed choices about the future of the EU by participating fully in the European democratic process.
By raising awareness of how the EU and its parliamentary democracy work and what matters fall within the EU’s remit, EUROPE DIRECT raises citizens’ awareness of the benefits of the EU in their daily lives, while emphasizing its added value.
EUROPE DIRECT helps to identify aspects of EU policy that are important at the local level and can develop messages and actions tailored to local needs. Through information and citizen involvement activities, EUROPE DIRECT helps pave the way for the Commission’s and Parliament’s strategic political priorities. It also listens to citizens and provides feedback to the EU institutions.
Moreover, EUROPE DIRECT works closely with the Commission’s Representations and the European Parliament’s offices (hereinafter “EP offices”) in the Member States concerned. They shall, as far as possible, cooperate with other EU information networks and local contact points (where they exist) and promote exchanges and coordination between them.
Funding Information
- The total budget allocated to this call for proposals is for the co-financing of projects in the first year of implementation (2021) is EUR 164 269.
- The amount of each annual grant for the period from 2022 to 2025 will be EUR 30 400.
- The amount of the annual grant for 2021 will be EUR 20 267.
Tasks
- Task 1: Informing and involving the population
- Task 2: Relations with local media and information distributors
- Task 3: Awareness of sensitive EU issues at the local level
- Task 4: The European Union in schools
- Task 5: Promotion of a regional network.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals may be submitted by any of the following applicants:
- a public body, such as a municipality or other local/regional authority, or
- association/association of municipalities, non-profit organization, social partner, educational or training institution
- Natural persons are not eligible to participate.
Country of Registration
- Only applications from legal entities registered in Latvia are eligible.
Requirements
- All EUROPE DIRECT must have:
- a recognizable site (hereinafter referred to as the ” EUROPE DIRECT headquarters”) with plate 13 which: attached to the facade of the building at street level so as to be as close as possible to the plate in formation on EUROPE DIRECT opening hours and/or attendance is displayed application procedure and contact telephone number;
- a dedicated telephone line and e-mail address;
- Online presence
- Everyone at EUROPE DIRECT has a responsibility to:
- support communication and outreach activities organized by the Commission Representation and EP offices, as well as support together.eu community development;
- respond to individual requests for meetings;
- answer questions or refer persons to the relevant EU network; or Europe Direct Contact Center
- communicate with the public through social media;
- disseminating EU publications / information / videos / messages;
- use the satisfaction survey tool provided by the Commission to assess EUROPE DIRECT activities;
- once using the online reporting tool made available by the Commission report monthly in English on its EUROPE DIRECT activities.
