The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting eligible entities for its Youth Innovation and Creativity Award (Khotwa/ PACE), NINEWAH and Kirkuk Governorates, that aims to mobilise the ingenuity and dynamic potential of young Iraqi in Ninewah and Kirkuk governorates as well as to create employment.
This initiative will assist young people with business ideas in becoming entrepreneurs and capable of creating and sustaining profitable small enterprises in sectors which will further create employment. It is an opportunity for the large unemployed youth population in Ninewah and Kirkuk governorates to confront the country’s development challenges.
The project shall contribute to supporting innovative and creative ideas through shortlisting about 100 candidates to go through the Build Your Business Training. The training will allow these candidates to create a solid business and action plans that they could implement even if they don’t become the top winners.
Award Information
- The competition will reward the top 20 Innovative Business ideas and teams with the amount of $5,000 of seed money to allow them to kick-start their businesses.
- The winners will be assigned and supported by business coaches and will be given access to mentors to help them at the early stages of their business.
Eligibility Criteria
UNDP seeks to recruit a national or international non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO), which meets the following criteria:
- Valid registration with the Federal Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
- Physical presence in Iraq for at least 3 years.
- Operational presence in the target governorate.
- Experience in implementing income and employment generation projects in Iraq.
- Experience in the management of cash-for-work projects, including rehabilitation of municipal and community infrastructure in IRAQ.
- Proven financial capacity to deliver large scale projects. Must have implemented at least two livelihood projects, each with over 1 million USD budget.
- Previous experience of managing projects funded by UN or international organizations.
