The European Union is currently accepting proposals for a programme entitled “Justice, Security, Accountability and Transparency (JSAT) Project” with an aim to improve the living and quality of life of Jamaican citizens by strengthening governance and oversight, with particular regard to the functioning of the security and justice systems. The Call for Proposals is to support activities:
- that contribute towards the protection of the rights of children, in particular children that come in contact with the justice system (i.e. children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with the law).
- to address issues of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence against women.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between EUR100,000 and EUR200,000.
Location
Actions must take place in Jamaica.
Duration
The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 18months.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant:
- Must be a legal person
- Must be non-profit-making
- Must be a civil society organisation or an international (inter-governmental) organisation as defined by Article of the Rules of application of the EU Financial Regulation
- Must be established in a Member State of the European Union or Jamaica (this obligation does not apply to international organisations). Non-Jamaican organisations must act with at least one local co-applicant
- Must be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
- The lead applicant must declare that the lead applicant himself, the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies) are not in any of these situations.
- The lead applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s).
How to Apply
- The application procedure consists of two phases:
- Concept notes
- Full applications
- In the first instance, only concept notes must be submitted for evaluation. Thereafter, lead applicants who have been pre-selected will be invited to submit a full application
