The BH Journalists Association in cooperation with the Association of Electronic Media in BiH opens a call for project proposals aimed at strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations in the field of media literacy, as well as preserving and protecting media freedom, independent journalism and media pluralism in local communities.
This call for proposals is part of the “Free Media for a Free Society” project, which is being implemented with the support of the European Union, with the aim of strengthening independent journalism, media freedom and the position of journalists in local communities.
Objectives
- General objective: Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the field of media literacy, as well as preserving and protection of media freedom, independent journalism and media pluralism in local communities in BiH.
- Specific objectives:
- improved capacities of local civil society organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina for strengthening the knowledge and skills of citizens in the field of media literacy with a focus on recognition and reduction misinformation and hate speech in public space and media content;
- established cooperation and exchange information between local civil society organizations and the media to promote freedom of expression and protection of the rights of journalists in the local media.
Funding Information
- The total amount available under this Call for Proposals is EUR 33,000 and six (6) grants of EUR 5,500.00 will be awarded.
- Co-financing of the project by the project applicant (or partner) is not mandatory.
- The duration of the project must be 5 months.
Eligibility Criteria
The call is open to CSOs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With this call for proposals separately encourage CSO partnership projects. The criteria for the qualification of the applicant and the partner are as follows:
- Project applicant (lead applicant): To be able to apply, a CSO must meet the following conditions:
- has the status of a legal entity, established and registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with national and local laws and regulations;
- is active in the field of media, education, human rights or gender equality, as evidenced the founding act of the organization;
- has been active for at least one year (last 12 months before the deadline for submitting project proposals), which proves the registration document;
- Project partner (co-applicant):
- has the status of a legal entity, established and registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in accordance with national and local laws and regulations;
- Note on project partnership:
- It is desirable that the project partnership includes at least one CSO operating in the local community, which is proves by experience in previous projects.
- Inter-State Partnerships are not permitted under this Call for Proposals.
