The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Dakar office has announced a Request for Proposals for Organization of two Training Workshops for Community Media Broadcasters.
Objectives
Within the framework of the present call for proposals, UNESCO Dakar intends to rely on an organization active in the Gambia, capable of mobilizing radio hosts and organizing two training workshops on the:
- Emergency plan and the early warning system, highlighting the functioning of the system, the different actors/stakeholders involved and their roles as well as collaboration mechanism with the early warning system;
- Interaction with the early warning system with a focus on content sharing and exploitation in the production of radio broadcast content (in English and local languages) to inform and alert the population.
Tasks to be Performed
- Develop a detailed work plan outlining the different phases of the implementation process and the detailed budge;
- Identify jointly with UNESCO Dakar the facilitators and experts in charge of facilitating each workshop and developing the training materials. Submit to UNESCO Dakar the CVs of the facilitators and experts;
- Submit the modules prepared for each workshop by the trainers to UNESCO Dakar for approval.
- Submit for approval to UNESCO Dakar the list of media, and media organizations that will participate in each training workshop;
- To manage all the logistics necessary for the organization of each workshop (catering, accommodation, transport, etc.), including the application of the health measures recommended by the countries in the context of COVID-19;
- Ensure media coverage and invite the competent authorities and other partners to the opening or closing of the work;
- Prepare and submit the final technical report for each workshop (including pre- and post-test evaluations of participants, gender-disaggregated attendance list and media categories) to UNESCO for approval;
- Prepare and submit to UNESCO the certified financial report with original supporting documents for all expenditures incurred.
Targets & Duration
- The main targets are the managers, content producers, journalists and technicians of community radio stations in The Gambia.
- The selected entity shall complete all the activities by end march 2021.
Deliverables
- Detailed implemented plan and budget;
- The facilitators and consultant list for each workshop;
- The participants list for each workshop;
- Detailed technical report for each workshop;
- Detailed financial report for each workshop.
Application Criteria
To participate in the call for proposals, the applicant entity must submit:
- A technical proposal detailing the methodology for the organization of the two workshops;
- A detailed budget proposal;
- Any document demonstrating relevant experience in the organization of similar activities;
- An example of a technical and financial report developed for previous projects.
