Nominations are now open for the 2021 Asian Women of Achievement Awards to help women and improve opportunities for the next generation.
The Asian Women of Achievement Awards, founded by Pinky Lilani CBE DL in 1999, celebrate multicultural Britain and the contribution of diverse cultures and talents to UK society.
They put on a platform, the phenomenal Asian women across the UK and across industries, who are making a valuable and important contribution to British life.
The awards play a key role in redefining the contribution of Asian women; and informing a new, positive, pro-diversity debate.
Categories
- Arts and Culture: This award recognizes women flourishing the world of performing and visual arts, arts management, creative writing and on-screen arts.
- Business: This award recognizes Asian businesswomen thriving in small, medium-sized and large organizations – quoted, independently owned or part of the public/charity sector.
- Entrepreneur: This award recognizes women who have set up, grown and established their own businesses. Entrepreneurship, across private business and social enterprise, has the power to galvanize markets and create prosperity and jobs.
- Media: This award recognizes women working in the area of broadcast, print or electronic media. From front-line journalism to production and technical, we are looking for women who have made a significant contribution to the success of the media company they work for or their personal media brand.
- Professions: This award recognizes women who have trained and qualified in their chosen professional practice and have become a leading practitioner. This award is open to all areas of professional practice such as legal, accountancy, medicine and education.
- Public Service: This award celebrates Asian women who have achieved success in senior executive or non-executive roles in the civil service, universities and their national institutions such as the NHS.
- Real Estate, Infrastructure & Construction: This award is for female professionals who shape the world they live in through their work in real estate, construction or infrastructure.
- Science: This award recognizes leading Asian women within the field of Science, those pushing through scientific developments in their field. They are also seeking nominees who can demonstrate a track record of academic excellence in the field of science. Candidates could work in areas such as Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Forensics, Ecology, Research etc
- Social & Humanitarian: This award recognizes the remarkable and inspiring work women are doing within this area. This is open to candidates either doing work within their local area, regionally or at a national and international level.
- Sport: This award unearths incredibly inspiring individuals who are making waves in sport. These women are climbing high in areas ranging from football, cricket and boxing to sport occupations such as agents, coaches etc.
- Technology and Digital: This award recognises leading Asian women within the field of Digital & Technology, in particular those making a significant contribution to innovation in the sector. We are looking for candidates succeeding in pushing through technological developments to commercial applications.
- The Natwest Chairman’s Award: This special award is presented by the Chair of the judging panel to one outstanding woman of achievement from the 2021 Asian Women of Achievement shortlist. This candidate will be someone who, the judges feel, most exemplifies the values and aspirations of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards.
- Young Achiever: This award recognizes the talents of rising stars in the UK, including students and young women across all sectors. This category is open to women aged 16 to 30.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be based in UK
- Candidates must be born in one of the countries or be born into an ethnic group or had at least one grandparent from one of the countries: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkey, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Vietnam, Yemen.
