The Sirius Minerals Foundation has launched the applications for Local Charities to fund projects and activities that are focused on helping people in their communities to regain their confidence and restart their lives, as the country begins to come out of lockdown.
The Sirius Minerals Foundation, the charitable body supported by Anglo American’s Woodsmith Project being built near Whitby and on Teesside, has launched the second part of its Covid 19 recovery fund, worth a total of £400,000.
This round of grants is aimed at small, local organisations that have not previously been supported by the Foundation, and those organisations who may not have experience in applying for grants and may need help to do so. Such groups are encouraged to contact the Foundation to have an informal chat about the grants on offer and the application process.
The aim of this grant round is to fund projects and activities that are focused on helping people in our communities to regain their confidence and restart their lives, as the country begins to come out of lockdown.
Groups can apply for funding to continue to deliver their existing activities, or to change and adapt to respond to new and future challenges; the Foundation knows that some groups are having to work differently because of the impact of the pandemic.
They are keen to support small, local organisations who may not previously have been funded by the Foundation and fit the eligibility criteria. The Foundation is particularly keen to reach groups who may not have experience in applying for grants and may need help to do so.
Objectives
The charitable objectives of the Foundation are to:

- Promote the general health of the community;
- Advance environmental protection and improvement including the enhancing of the local landscape;
- Provide and improve facilities in the interests of social welfare and leisure time with the aim to improve residents’ well-being;
