The Auckland Council is inviting nominations for the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board Excellence Award.
Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board set up the Pursuit of Excellence Award to:
- support local residents and organisations who will represent the area to demonstrate their outstanding achievements in their chosen field
- recognise and celebrate the contributions of the local applicants.
Aims
The award aims to:
- increase the profile and image of the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board area
- assist applicants to build their capacity in serving the community
- promote diverse participation in local government and civic life
- foster the development of a sustainable workforce for local industry and surrounds
- strengthen the development of community unity in Otara-Papatoetoe.

- Arts
- Community
- Environment
- Events
- Heritage
- Sports and recreation
Priorities
The Council welcomes grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- Growing the local economy.
- Park and public spaces are accessible, safe and pleasant.
- Better:
- parks and facilities for sports and recreation
- neighbourhood amenities
- experiences for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Revitalising town centres
- Developing public facilities
- Pleasant neighbourhoods, programmes and events that promote:
- healthy living
- cultural diversity
- education
- environmental protection.
- Community facilities fit for purpose.
- Community-led development.
- Enabling young and old to participate in employment, education, training and community service.
Award Information
- Grant value: $150 – $2000
Eligibility Criteria
This award is open to people who:
- are New Zealand residents or citizens living in the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board Area
- show:
- excellent and outstanding achievements
- leadership potential or community contribution during the past 12 months
- have been accepted to attend a conference or event either in New Zealand or overseas that will develop their leadership potential.
