The Rochdale Borough Council has announced the applications for Youth Opportunity Fund (YOF), a fund for young people aged 8-19 to give them ‘somewhere to go, something to do or someone to talk to’.
Funding Information
- There will be a maximum limit of £2,000 on the amount of funding you can apply for.
What you can apply for?
You can apply for funding for a wide range of sporting, cultural, recreational activities or opportunities for volunteering which will provide you with safe, enjoyable places to go, something to do and someone to talk to. They encourage joint funding with other young people or organisations. Some ideas for funding might be:
- Sporting activities
- Swimming lessons
- Duke of Edinburgh award expeditions
- Drama and dance sessions
- Summer activity programmes
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications will be assessed to make sure they fit within the criteria by the panel. All applications must:
- Provide realistic, well thought out and achievable health outcomes
- Provide additional places for young people aged 8–19 to go and additional things for them to do and someone to talk to.
- Fully involve young people in the planning, delivery and evaluation processes
- Be a new activity not already provided in the area
- Provide value for money
- Wherever possible be sustainable
- Be safe and risks assessed in line with government guidelines around the spread of Covid-19
- The panel will be fair in assessing applications and all projects will be judged in the same way but there would be a greater impact for young people and the areas they live in if projects or initiatives:
- Support young people’s mental health, resilience and wellbeing.
- Involve or benefit a realistic number of young people.
- Are match funded, for example part of the total cost is funded by another organisation.
- Are supported in-kind, for example by volunteers, using existing resources or equipment.
Priority will be given to applications supporting young people’s mental health, resilience and wellbeing.
Ineligible
Examples of applications they will not fund include:
- Dangerous activities or projects where the relevant safeguards are not in place, including measures to minimise risk of COVID-19 transfer.
- Duplicate, replacement or extensions to an existing project or activity.
- Management or administrative costs to the supporting organisation.
- Refreshments.
- Projects that promote a religion or political view.
