The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration is seeking applications to advance efforts for a nationally integrated food safety system through the conformance with and advancement of the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards (VNRFRPS or Retail Program Standards).
The VNRFRPS apply to the operation and management of a retail food regulatory program that is focused on the reduction of risk factors.
Objectives
- Identify program areas where an agency can have the greatest impact on retail food safety.
- Promote wider application of effective risk-factor intervention strategies.
- Promote wider application of active managerial control strategies by industry targeted to the risk factors associated with food borne illness.
- Assist in identifying program areas most in need of additional attention and strategies to address identified areas.
- Develop and implement innovations in program implementation and administration.
- Improve industry and consumer confidence in food protection programs by enhancing uniformity within and between regulatory agencies.
