The Albert Schweitzer Animal Welfare Fund (ASAWF) is seeking applications for its grant program in order to support animal welfare projects across United States.
The Albert Schweitzer Animal Welfare Fund was founded by two lifelong humanitarians, Dr. Marjorie Anchel and Dr. Herbert Rackow to help finance animal protection projects undertaken by non-profit, tax-exempt humane organizations based in the United States.
Funding Priorities
- Proposals seeking and implementing solutions to companion animal overpopulation
- Projects to enhance humaneness and efficiency of animal shelter operations, sanctuaries and rescue centers
- Humane education and community awareness programs
- Projects protecting large animals and wild animals
- Projects designed to eliminate pain and suffering of animals used in research or testing by reduction of numbers or use of non-sentient substitutes
- Projects assisting protection of animals used for food or the elimination of such use
Eligibility Criteria
- The ASAWF funds only 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organizations based in the United States of America.
- The ASAWF does not provide funding for:
- Emergency grants
- Grants for employee salaries.
- Feral cat trap, neuter, release (TNR) programs; however, organizations that engage in TNR may submit an application for other projects
- New organization start ups. Applicants must have been granted IRS tax-exempt status at least three (3) years prior to applying for funding.
How to Apply
- Select an application for either:
- All applications must be accompanied by the following documents, specifically as listed:
- The organization’s IRS tax-exempt determination letter.
- A line-item budget that shows the specific expenses for your proposal. Include the total budget for the proposal and the amount you are requesting from the Albert Schweitzer Animal Welfare Fund.
- The most recent financial statement showing actual income and expenses.
- Current operating budget
- A list of Board Members and Officers
- Complete applications with the supporting documents in a prescribed format must be submitted electronically via given website.
