UN Women is calling for proposals to encourage NGOs that have proven capacity to develop and implement a program on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and human rights of women including at community level.
Objectives
- Strengthening the organization of women in their different intersectionalities, specifically the most excluded from development and political processes;
- Strengthening the young women’s movement; and
- Building the capacity of women in political parties to develop a common agenda and a national program of action for increasing accountability to gender equality and the empowerment of women.
Components
- Fostering an inclusive women’s movement by:
- Component 1: Strengthening the organization of women in their different intersectionalities and their organizations, specifically disadvantaged women and the most excluded women’s organizations to establish coalitions in different regions, to coordinate and draw their strategic way forward, develop a national common agenda in political, legal, economic and social domains, and coordinate to develop a program of action.
- Component 2: Building capacity of women in political parties and facilitating multi-party dialogue sessions on intra-party engendered reforms to strengthen accountability to gender equality in politics.
- Component 3: Strengthening the young women’s movement to foster an inclusive women’s agenda and to influence the political transition processes.
Funding Information
- The budget range for this proposal should be40,000 –100,000 USD
Duration
- The implementation period is for 6 months with starting date being 1stJuly 2022 and completion of services/results by end of December 2022, and narrative and financial report to be submitted no later than20th January 2023.
Outcomes
UN Women Sudan is seeking proposals with programme interventions that will support the implementation of projects that would contribute to the below UN Women’s outcome and outputs on political participation of women:
- Outcome 1.1: More women of all ages fully engage with political and economic institutions and in leadership
- Output 1.1.1: Diverse networks of support for women leaders created and sustained
Competencies
- Extensive experience in working on the women’s movement and women’s rights issues, including in economic, political, social or legal domains
- Experience in developing and implementing advocacy, capacity building and strategies on strengthening women’s movement
- Track record of working with and organizing women who are most excluded from development and political process at community level
- Experience and track records on applying Results Based Management and its application to key processes (eg, planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation)
- Experience in working in the targeted selected states
- Relevant experience in partnership with UN Women or other UN Agencies, government, CSOs networks and other development actors
- Have presence (an office with staff capacity) in the target state-locality in the selected region/state. Alternatively, applicants should demonstrate that they have existing partnerships or will establish partnerships, such as with key women’s rights organizations (CBOs/CSOs/NGOs) based in the target districts. In such cases, applicants will indicate potential partnerships and will subsequently need to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding as part of this engagement.
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
