Deadline: 30-Jun-22
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is offering grants to Strengthen national planning processes for SLCP mitigation in Guinea.
The aim of this project is to provide technical assistance to support Guinea’s Ministry of Environment and Development in strengthening national short-lived climate pollutant (SLCP) planning and mitigation actions. This will build on previous CCAC projects.
Funding Information
Estimated project cost: US$ 50,000 – 75,000
Minimum Required Outputs
The project should deliver at a minimum:
- Updated and improved assessments of SLCP emissions, emission projections, and mitigation in key source sectors for integration into the 3rd National Communication (Biennial Update Report to UNFCCC) and the greenhouse gas emissions inventory, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) and transparency reports . These assessments will be used as a technical basis for preparing Guinea’s 2021 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation plan.
- A methane roadmap that follows a modality agreed with the CCAC Secretariat for the priority SLCP mitigation measures identified.
- Capacity building workshops and support tools to train personnel from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests and relevant institutions on developing and updating a national inventory for SLCP emitting sectors, on developing mitigation assessments (eg, using LEAP), and on integrating SLCPs into Guinea’s climate change planning processes.
- A portfolio of mitigation project concept notes for SLCP mitigation in Guinea accounting for the data generated by the SLCP mitigation assessments.
Applicants are encouraged to propose additional outputs as needed to ensure the expected project outcomes are achieved.
Expected Outcomes
Through the proposed outputs and activities, the project should achieve the following by its completion:
- Guinea’s government has demonstrated increased:
- Capacity to assess and model their SLCP emissions, to prioritize and implement SLCP mitigation measures, and to track progress
- Increased knowledge, coordination, and capacity for SLCP planning.
- Guinea’s government endorses the methane roadmap.
