The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai (PAS Mumbai) is seeking proposals for a project entitled “Green Hackathon.”
Through this project, a grantee will implement a two-day green hackathon in Mumbai in which up to 40 entrepreneurs, developers, researchers, environmental practitioners, and students will be invited to be mentored by an expert and to work in teams on a proposed technological or other project that addresses an environmental issue. Two proposed projects will be awarded small seed grants for implementation of their winning proposals.
Program Goals
- Promote innovative initiatives to address environmental challenges facing western India.
- Build India’s capacity to advance economic development in an environmentally sustainable way.
- Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India through exchanges of information, experiences, and expertise.
Objective: To implement a two-day “green hackathon” in Mumbai to develop innovative sustainable technological solutions to environmental challenges common to western India.
Funding Information
- Minimum (“Floor”) Award Amount: $23,000
- Maximum (“Ceiling”) Award Amount: $25,000
- Grant projects generally should be completed in one year or less.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations.
- Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
- Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one non-profit, non-governmental entity may be the prime recipient of the award.
- When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education.
- Private institutions of higher education.
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education.
