The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for up to four cooperative agreements from qualified U.S. and Non-U.S. organizations to fund a program entitled “Territorial and Environmental Management of Indigenous Lands” with an aim to enhance biodiversity conservation in Brazilian Amazon Protected Area Systems.
Objectives
- Strengthen biodiversity conservation efforts in priority protected area mosaics.
- Support the Brazilian national policy for land and environmental management in Indigenous lands The National Policy for Territorial and Environmental Management of Indigenous Lands (PNGATI).
- Apply science, technology and innovation to improve biodiversity conservation.
Funding Information
- Subject to the availability of funds, USAID intends to provide up to $7,500,000 in total USAID funding over a three (3) year period.
- The ceiling for this program is $7,500,000. Actual funding amounts are subject to availability of funds.
Eligibility Criteria
- USAID welcomes applications from many types of organizations including U.S. and non U.S. private businesses, business and trade associations, foundations, U.S. and non-U.S. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), faith-based organizations, international organizations, U.S. and non-U.S. colleges and universities, civic groups, regional organizations, etc.; individually or organized under a consortium (one leader organization and others as partners).
- All applicants must be legally recognized organizational entities under applicable law. An individual cannot apply as an applicant.
- To be considered for funding under this APS, applications must meet the following requirements:
- Applications must be fully aligned with PNGATI objectives and PGTAs (when existing).
- Applications must be feasible from a technical, economic, financial and social perspective.
- Applications must demonstrate sustainability of activities after the end of the project and/or potential for replication and scaling-up over time.
- The group of Indigenous Lands to be included should be consistent with previous initiatives conducted in the geographic areas.
