Vinnova has launched the applications for Medtech4Health: Innovators in Healthcare, aims to give employees in healthcare the opportunity to work with innovation.
The work must support development and commercialization, and/or evaluation, adaptation and introduction of innovative medical technology solutions in the applicant's care or social care activities. The solutions must clearly contribute to solving a well-defined challenge in the applicant's activities. Cooperation with academia or representatives of patients is desirable but not necessary.
Aims

The overall long-term goals of Medtech4Health are that medical technology innovations should contribute to the following:
- The needs of patients and users are at the center of healthcare
- Continued national and international success for Swedish medical technology business
- Sweden is internationally recognized for excellence in needs-based medical technology innovation, research and education

In this call for proposals, they can finance projects that aim to:
- Develop or evaluate ideas developed by staff at the applicant's organization for inclusion in their own health and care activities, as well as verify the conditions for commercializing the ideas
- Define requirements and needs to enable the development, adaptation or procurement of a new innovative medical technology solution
- Test and evaluate new medical technology solutions, and analyze the need to adapt services, processes and organization to be able to introduce the solution
Priorities

The solutions that Medtech4Health wants to prioritize in this call must:
- Contribute to geographically and socially increasing equality in health care how a product, service or process is designed)
- Reduce negative impact on the environment and climate
- Provide a more economical use of resources and contribute to a circular economy.
- Reduce resource and energy consumption as well as emissions of toxic waste during production and use.
- Contribute to solving the personnel challenges in health care and within health and social care.
Funding Information
- Minimum SEK 300,000 and maximum SEK 1,000,000. For amounts higher than 500,000, co-financing is required.
Eligibility Criteria
- Care and care-giving organization within the public or private sector for costs in its activities. Cooperation with academia or representatives of patients is desirable but not necessary.
- The call is aimed at staff at health and care providers who want to streamline their operations by developing, evaluating, adapting and introducing new medical technology solutions. Applicants are welcome from both the public and private health and care sectors.
- If additional specialist competence is needed from academic researchers (also institutes) or opinions from representatives of patients and users, collaboration can take place with these. It strengthens the application. Non-care/caring companies cannot participate as a project party in projects but can be engaged as, for example, a service provider.
- Health care provider: government authority, region, municipality, other legal entity or individual entrepreneur who conducts health care activities.
- Care provider: Authority that is responsible for or performs interventions for elderly people or people with disabilities (public care provider) and legal person or sole trader who performs such interventions (private care provider)
- User : Person who receives individually needs-tested interventions from social services.
- Patient : Person who receives or is registered to receive healthcare.
- Medical device : product used to detect, prevent, monitor, treat or alleviate a disease; detect, monitor, treat, alleviate or compensate for an injury or a disability; examine, alter or replace anatomy or a physiological process or control conception.
