The Hubbub is currently seeking applications for its New ‘Food Hubs’ Grant Funding available for Community Fridges to support the development of new activities relating to cooking, growing, budgeting and using surplus food.
Themes
- Skills – To up-skill your community and raise awareness of sustainable, affordable, and heathy living. E.g. workshops, events, cookbooks, or how-to-guides.
- Affordable food – To try out new ways to increase access to local and affordable food. E.g. food cooperatives, food box schemes or food markets.
- Community Connection – To provide opportunity for their community to come together around shared food. E.g. community meals, coffee and chats, youth activities, and recipe shares.
- Growing – To support community growing and increase the amount of edible food grown and shared locally. E.g. community gardens, greening projects and seed or plant sharing.
What’s included?
- Successful applicants will receive: £6,000 in funding

- Opportunities to learn from and share with other 'Food hub' groups
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this funding your group must be based in the UK, with a UK based Community Fridge which is officially open to the public and registered as a member of the Community Fridge Network. In addition, they can only accept applications if your group meets one of the following organisational types:
- A Constituted Community Group with a charitable purpose and at least 3 unrelated people aged over 18 on the management committee
- A registered Charity
- A Social Enterprise
- A Community Interest Company with two or more directors
- Groups who cannot apply:
- Individuals or Sole traders
- Groups based outside the UK
- Anyone applying on behalf of another group
- Companies aimed at generating profits for private distribution.
