The Alinytjara Wilurara Landscape Board is pleased to offer a Grassroots Grant to Land Holding Authorities to help them achieve on-ground activities to benefit the Alinytjara Wilurara environment and communities.
Focus
- Projects can focus on:
- investigating, monitoring and protecting native species, ecosystems and their threats
- trialling and demonstrating new technologies and management techniques which improve the health of Country
- raising awareness of issues affecting Country
- on-ground actions that improve the health of and reduce threats to the region’s biodiversity.
What type of activities can be funded?
- The type of activities that can be funded through the program include on‐ground activities relating to:
- Indigenous cultural and ecological knowledge – intergenerational transfer of traditional knowledge
- weed management
- pest management
- access control for environmental or cultural outcomes (e.g. fencing)
- water sites management
- revegetation.
Funding Information
- Grassroots Grant of up to $36,570.
What can’t the grants be used for?
- Activities that are causing or likely to cause environmental damage, either directly or indirectly.
- Preparation of the grant application.
- Purchase of machinery, plant, and equipment that is not clearly outlined in the Project budget table in the application form.
- Activities that occurred before the grant began.
- Project management and administration costs of the applicant which are not related to the project and do not appear in the Project budget table in the application form.
- Routine administration expenses including but not limited to accommodation, office computing facilities, legal and accounting fees and bank charges.
- Existing debts or shortfalls.
- Marketing and promotion of the organisation or existing services (unless directly associated with the project and educational in nature).
- Activities that are unlawful.
Note: Other activities or spending may be ineligible where they do not directly support the goals of the grants program or where it is contrary to the spirit and intention of the grant funding. If you are unsure about the eligibility of your proposed project or activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Grassroots Grant is only available to Land Holding Authorities in the AW region seeking to undertake land management activities that help to achieve environmental and community benefits.
- Simply fill out the Grassroots Grant Expression of Interest and:
- ensure that proposed project activities are not funded by any other funding agreement. However, the proposed activities could be additional to an existing, or already funded project
- all project activities are undertaken within the Alinytjara Wilurara region.
