U.S. Embassy in Maputo, Mozambique is seeking applications for its PEPFAR Small Grants Program which is funded through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR). The PEPFAR goal in Mozambique is to support country efforts to achieve epidemic control by 2020 through evidence-based policies and interventions to drive progress and save lives.
As part of the PEPFAR, the United States Embassy in Maputo administers the Small Grants Program that is seeking to support small, grassroots, community-run projects throughout Mozambique.
Programs/Activities
- Support services for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) and their households;
- HIV Prevention for Priority Populations (especially Adolescent Girls and Young Women between 15-24 years old and Young Men between 15-29 years old);
- Adult Care and Support for Programs for People Living with HIV (PLHIV).
Funding Information
- Award Amount: $779,591.00 is available for the Small Grants Program. Multiple awards will be granted, with a maximum amount per award of $23,000.00.
- Award Period: 12 months
Qualifications for Funding
- PEPFAR Small Grants activities must focus on one or more of the PEPFAR program areas stated above;
- Organizations that already receive direct funding or substantial support from the U.S. Government are not eligible to apply.
- All applicants must be registered Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) and have been in operation for at least one year to be eligible for funding.
- Organizations must be able to demonstrate that they have adequate internal controls and financial monitoring procedures in place.
- Successful applicants should demonstrate strong ties and support in its local community and with local governmental authorities.
Selection Criteria
- Projects must be able to establish clear performance goals, indicators and timely project deliverables that can be externally verified.
- Sustainability of the project;
- Evidence of Institutional capacity (internal procedures, human resources, experience, etc.)
- Quality of the project and ability to demonstrate that it contributes to HIV/ AIDS and/or OVC care.
