The Swedish Institute’s every year calls applications for its first Creative Force programme. Applicants may also apply for seed funding along with collaborative program. It is a development program with the mission to encourage popular structures from culture and media.
The Creative Force programme supports projects which aim to strengthen democracy and freedom of expression in the target countries. This shall be achieved through collaborations between institutions and agents of change who work with either culture or the media to bring about change.
The Swedish Institute is a public organization that aims to connect Sweden to various International goals in the areas of education, human rights, global development, media, culture, democracy, innovation, business development, and research.
Types of Funding
- Seed Funding: Seed Funding basic purpose is to work for start-up projects, small-scale projects, and planning trips. It covers a maximum grant amount of SEK 100,000. Funding is not for study trips, volunteer activities, conference participation, research projects, and commercial purpose.
- Collaborative Project: Collaborative Project funding is available for purposes which have capacity-building and creative dimension and includes workshops, visits, seminars, and training courses. Sums in the range SEK 100,000 − SEK 500,000/year may be applied for. The maximum project duration is two years.

- AFRICA: Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia
- MENA: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen
- Eastern Europe: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey and Ukraine
- Russia
Eligibility Criteria
- Only public agencies, private agencies, foundations, civil society organizations or professional actors are allowed to apply.
- Individual should not apply.
- Applicant must have relevant experience
- 1 year – seed funding
- 2 years – collaborative project
- Five geographic regions are included: Eastern Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Africa, Turkey, and Russia.
