Deadline: 26-Sep-2025
The European Commission (EC) is inviting proposals to strengthen civil society’s role in advancing green and digital transformation in Botswana. This initiative aims to improve civil society’s involvement in policy development and advocacy for green transformation and support community-based innovation and entrepreneurship for a circular economy. It also seeks to enhance public readiness and participation in the digital transformation process.
Under the green transformation focus, proposals should aim to empower civil society to advocate for robust climate policies, monitor climate commitments, and raise public awareness on sustainability, renewable energy, and climate change. Another key goal is to promote the inclusion of women and youth in circular economy entrepreneurship through training and skill-building programs.
For digital transformation, proposals should help raise awareness and educate citizens about digital processes, benefits, and risks. Activities may include skill development aligned with the SmartBots initiative, creation and promotion of online learning materials and services, and efforts to ensure that marginalized groups, especially youth and minorities, benefit from digital growth opportunities.
A total of EUR 1,476,000 is available under this call for proposals, equally divided between green and digital transformation initiatives (EUR 738,000 each). Grants will range between EUR 180,000 and EUR 246,000. Projects must last between 24 and 36 months.
Eligible lead applicants must be legal, non-profit entities such as NGOs, public sector operators, or local authorities. They must be based in an EU Member State or in Botswana and must directly manage the project in collaboration with any co-applicants or affiliated entities, without acting as intermediaries.
