The Sussex Community Foundation is delighted to announce the relaunch of their Main Grants Programme.
As a community foundation, it connects individuals and groups who wish to contribute to charitable causes with organisations working to strengthen local communities. With the support of over 100 fundholders, many of whom actively participate in selecting which causes to support, the Foundation is able to fund projects addressing a wide range of community needs.
Grants are awarded through four main funding priorities and range from £1,000 to £10,000, with the current average grant size just over £5,000. Funding is provided for up to one year and can cover both core operational costs and project-specific expenses. The Foundation focuses on four key areas where it believes it can make the greatest difference. Tackling Poverty supports initiatives that reduce disadvantage within communities. Improving Health aims to help people live longer and better lives. Reaching Potential funds programs that provide life-changing skills, education, and training. Acting on Climate encourages local action to address environmental challenges.
Eligible organisations must use all income and assets solely for charitable purposes, with any remaining assets transferred to another charity if the group closes. Organisations should have an annual income of £2 million or less unless otherwise specified and be governed by at least three unrelated trustees or directors, with a minimum of two unrelated bank account signatories. Members may only be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses and cannot receive other financial benefits.
The Foundation welcomes applications from a wide range of organisations, including registered charities, Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs), companies limited by guarantee (CLGs), Community Interest Companies (CICs) limited by guarantee, unincorporated associations or community groups, community benefit societies, Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs), and registered societies.
