Deadline: 16-Dec-2025
The OSC Award is a key component of the “Biodiverse, Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Cities” project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
This initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability in urban planning and increase public awareness of ecological and social resilience. Approved in August 2024, the broader project has a total budget of €2,550,000, with €686,000 specifically allocated for the OSC Award. It will be implemented through a call for proposals directed at registered Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other non-profit entities.
The OSC Award will fund one project with a maximum grant of €686,000 over a period of up to 24 months. Eligible applicants must be CSOs registered under the relevant national law, in good financial standing, not under insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings, and compliant with tax and social security obligations. Organizations must also uphold ethical and legal standards, ensuring integrity and credibility throughout their operations.
The project focuses on the Colombian intermediate cities of Leticia and San Andrés, with the goal of fostering sustainable urban development and biodiversity-friendly planning. It supports participatory urban redevelopment, promotes citizen education and engagement on environmental issues, and encourages transformative actions for sustainable infrastructure, green businesses, and renewable energy adoption.
Direct beneficiaries include public officials, academics, and civil society representatives who will take part in training sessions, workshops, and knowledge exchanges. Citizens, including students, professors, and community members, will participate in environmental education, citizen science, and sustainability projects. The initiative also aims to engage residents in implementing green infrastructure, promoting nature tourism, and restoring ecosystems.
Through the leadership and funding of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, this initiative provides a meaningful opportunity for CSOs to advance sustainable urban development in Colombia. By integrating environmental strategies into city planning and empowering citizens, the project seeks to build resilient, inclusive, and biodiverse urban environments that can serve as global examples of sustainable transformation.
