Deadline: 29-Oct-2025
The World Food Programme has announced an integrated call for proposals to identify partners for the implementation of activities related to nutrition, school feeding, malnutrition prevention and treatment, and resilience in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for 2026.
The initiative will be carried out across several provinces including South Kivu, Ituri, Tanganyika, Haut Katanga, Kasai, Kasai-Central, Maniema, Lomami, Haut Uele, Nord Ubangi, and Sud Ubangi, where humanitarian and development needs remain high due to ongoing conflict, displacement, and food insecurity.
Through this call, WFP seeks to engage national and international NGOs capable of implementing comprehensive and complementary interventions that address both emergency response and long-term development goals. Emergency-related activities will focus on providing unconditional food assistance through in-kind food, cash, and voucher modalities, as well as conditional assistance to victims of epidemics such as Mpox and Ebola. In addition, the projects will support the treatment and prevention of acute malnutrition to reduce vulnerability among affected communities.
The initiative also places strong emphasis on long-term resilience and food security. Partners will work to implement home-grown school feeding programmes that source food locally, strengthening local markets while promoting education and nutrition among children. Other activities include community-based nutrition interventions for the prevention of stunting, and initiatives that create sustainable livelihoods for smallholder farmers through improved access to markets, technical training, and agricultural support.
WFP has outlined six key areas of work under this call, including the provision of nutrition-sensitive assistance to crisis-affected populations, treatment and prevention of malnutrition, promotion of nutritious school meals, prevention of chronic malnutrition, and the creation of equitable access to livelihood opportunities and markets. These efforts will be supported by cross-cutting components such as gender equality, protection, conflict sensitivity, and accountability to affected populations, ensuring that interventions are inclusive and sustainable.
To enhance coordination and transparency, WFP will also launch a separate call for proposals related to targeting, registration, and survey activities. Organizations may apply to both calls but will need to maintain clear separation of roles to ensure operational integrity. The programme aims to strengthen collaboration among partners and establish a more resilient framework for humanitarian and development action across the country.
Through this call for proposals, WFP reaffirms its commitment to supporting communities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo by addressing immediate food and nutrition needs while building pathways for long-term stability and growth. The selected partners will play a key role in implementing life-saving interventions and advancing the country’s progress toward sustainable resilience and improved well-being for all.
