The Columbia Basin Trust is pleased to announce the Basin Charge Up program to provide one-time support to local governments and First Nations to support their efforts to become more energy efficient.
The one-time Program helps local governments and First Nations’ efforts to become more energy efficient by supporting:
- Solar arrays (Arrays) to generate renewable energy;
- Electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle (EV) purchases and public use charging stations; and
- For communities with populations 2,000 and under – energy retrofits to local government and First Nation owned buildings.

Eligible project costs and eligibility details are defined under two categories:
- Category A – Populations 2,000 and under
- Category B – Populations over 2,000
Funding Information

Category A – Populations 2,000 and under
- EV Purchases: Up to 75% of eligible costs to a maximum of $75,000 towards the purchase of one EV.
- Charging stations: Up to 75% for installing up to two charging stations to a cumulative maximum of $35,000.
- Solar Arrays: 75% up to a maximum of $75,000.
- Energy Retrofits: 75% up to a maximum of $100,000
- Cumulative Maximum Grant Amount: $285,000 cumulative grant total per applicant.

Category B – Populations over 2,000
- EV Purchases: Up to 75% of eligible costs to a maximum of $75,000 towards the purchase of one EV.
- Charging stations: Up to 75% for installing up to two charging stations to a cumulative maximum of $35,000.
- Solar Arrays: 75% up to a maximum of $75,000.
- Cumulative Maximum Grant Amount: $185,000 cumulative grant total per applicant.

Eligible applicants include local governments and First Nations in the Columbia Basin Trust region

Category A – Populations 2,000 and under
- EV Purchases: Only for the transportation of clients and/or staff outreach, or transportation of equipment or materials related to core operations, or by law enforcement.
- Charging stations: Prioritization will be given to areas that connect key highway/travel corridors that demonstrate need, or communities that do not have an existing charging station.

Category B – Populations over 2,000
